For anyone new to my blog, I decided right back at the very beginning (March 2008) that each month I would chart my traffic, to see whether there was an increase, etc. I figure since this blog is about marketing, SEO, and all that fun stuff, I might as well show people what sort of results I’m getting from it.
It should be noted that I don’t work on this a ton; most of the time spent, especially recently, is just in writing blog posts. I haven’t been very active on other blogs (not as much as I would like) and I haven’t done much SEO for it recently either. Nevertheless, it still continues to grow.
Alexa: 567,990 (up from 700,607)
Google PR: 2 (same as last month)
Technorati Authority: 11 (down from 11), Fans 1
RSS Subscribers: 12 (up from 10)
The Golden Rule
September 2008 Absolute Unique Visitors: 1014 (last month I had 1115)
Pageviews: 1332 (1.31, up from 1.28 per visit last month)
Google: 20 (down from 24)
Yahoo: 535+22=557 (spread across jonathanboettcher.com and www.jonathanboettcher.com – search engines are slowly consolidating on the www since I took action about 4 months ago towards that goal). Up from 371 total in Sept.
Okay, so what’s the analysis?
Traffic is down again. I think I need to find some hot button topics to start posting on again, and do a few minutes of linking for those posts. That has worked wonders in the past.
Alexa rank has improved significantly; I’m hoping to break the top 500k soon.
PageRank is steady. I’ve recently learned a few dirty tricks (well, let’s just call them off the beaten path) that are going to get me some links from PR 8-10 sites. I’ll be trying that out this month, and it will be interesting to see how my PR responds to that.
I *tried* to do a blog contest last month, but I realized that if you’re shouting from down in a hole nobody really hears you. I didn’t really have time to promote it much, and consequently nothing much came of it.
In other news, I’m considering a facelift for this site. I’m on the hunt for a new theme, something a bit more cheery and modern with nice rounded edges and pretty menus. This one is getting a little tired I think. Feel free to leave your suggestions if you know of any good ones.
